Quick Estimates Of Index Of Industrial Production And Use-Based Index For The Month Of July 2023 (Base 2011-12=100)

The Quick Estimates of Index of Industrial Production (IIP) are released on 12th of every month with a six weeks lag and compiled with data received from source agencies, which in turn receive the data from the producing factories/ establishments.

For the month of July 2023, the Quick Estimates of Index of Industrial Production (IIP) with base 2011-12 stands at 142.0. The Indices of Industrial Production for the Mining, Manufacturing and Electricity sectors for the month of July 2023 stand at 111.9, 141.2 and 204.0 respectively. These Quick Estimates will undergo revision in subsequent releases as per the revision policy of IIP.

As per Use-based classification, the indices stand at 141.7 for Primary Goods, 101.6 for Capital Goods, 151.8 for Intermediate Goods and 168.5 for Infrastructure/ Construction Goods for the month of July 2023. Further, the indices for Consumer durables and Consumer non-durables stand at 118.1 and 152.2 respectively for the month of July 2023.

Details of Quick Estimates of the Index of Industrial Production for the month of July 2023 at Sectoral, 2-digit level of National Industrial Classification (NIC-2008) and by Use-based classification are given at Statements I, II and III respectively. Also, for users to appreciate the changes in the industrial sector, Statement IV provides month-wise indices for the last 12 months, by industry groups (as per 2-digit level of NIC-2008) and sectors.

Along with the Quick Estimates of IIP for the month of July 2023, the indices for June 2023 have undergone the first revision and those for April 2023 have undergone final revision in the light of the updated data received from the source agencies. The Quick Estimates for July 2023, the first revision for June 2023 and the final revision for April 2023 have been compiled at weighted response rates of 92 percent, 94 percent and 95 percent respectively.

Release of the Index for August 2023 will be on Thursday, 12th October 2023.

The Quick Estimates of Index of Industrial Production (IIP) are released on 12th of every month (or previous working day if 12th is a holiday) with a six weeks lag and compiled with data received from source agencies, which in turn receive the data from the producing factories/ establishments.

2. For the month of September 2022, the Quick Estimates of Index of Industrial Production (IIP) with base 2011-12 stands at 133.5 The Indices of Industrial Production for the Mining, Manufacturing and Electricity sectors for the month of September 2022 stand at 99.5, 134.3 and 187.4 respectively. These Quick Estimates will undergo revision in subsequent releases as per the revision policy of IIP.

3. As per Use-based classification, the indices stand at 128.2 for Primary Goods, 102.9 for Capital Goods, 145.8 for Intermediate Goods and 155.8 for Infrastructure/ Construction Goods for the month of September 2022. Further, the indices for Consumer durables and Consumer non-durables stand at 125.1 and 136.9 respectively for the month of September 2022.

4. Details of Quick Estimates of the Index of Industrial Production for the month of September 2022 at Sectoral, 2-digit level of National Industrial Classification (NIC-2008) and by Use-based classification are given at Statements I, II and III respectively. Quick Estimates of Index of Industrial Production and Use Based Index for the month of August 2022

QUICK ESTIMATES OF INDEX OF INDUSTRIAL PRODUCTION AND USE-BASED INDEX FOR THE MONTH OF AUGUST 2022 (BASE 2011-12=100)

2. For the month of August 2022, the Quick Estimates of Index of Industrial Production (IIP) with base 2011-12 stands at 131.3 The Indices of Industrial Production for the Mining, Manufacturing and Electricity sectors for the month of August 2022 stand at 99.6, 131.0 and 191.3 respectively. These Quick Estimates will undergo revision in subsequent releases as per the revision policy of IIP.

3. As per Use-based classification, the indices stand at 129.4 for Primary Goods, 95.7 for Capital Goods, 145.6 for Intermediate Goods and 150.8 for Infrastructure/ Construction Goods for the month of August 2022. Further, the indices for Consumer durables and Consumer non-durables stand at 118.6 and 133.6 respectively for the month of August 2022.

4. Details of Quick Estimates of the Index of Industrial Production for the month of August 2022 at Sectoral, 2-digit level of National Industrial Classification (NIC-2008) and by Use-based classification are given at Statements I, II and III respectively. Also, for users to appreciate the changes in the industrial sector, Statement IV provides month-wise indices for the last 12 months, by industry groups (as per 2-digit level of NIC-2008) and sectors.

5. Along with the Quick Estimates of IIP for the month of August 2022, the indices for July 2022 have undergone the first revision and those for May 2022 have undergone final revision in the light of the updated data received from the source agencies. The Quick Estimates for August 2022, the first revision for July 2022 and the final revision for May 2022 have been compiled at weighted response rates of 90 percent, 92 percent and 94 percent respectively.

6. Release of the Index for September 2022 will be on Friday, 11th November 2022.

QUICK ESTIMATES OF INDEX OF INDUSTRIAL PRODUCTION AND USE-BASED INDEX FOR THE MONTH OF JULY 2022

1. The Quick Estimates of Index of Industrial Production (IIP) are released on 12th of every month (or previous working day if 12th is a holiday) with a six weeks lag and compiled with data received from source agencies, which in turn receive the data from the producing factories/ establishments.

2. For the month of July 2022, the Quick Estimates of Index of Industrial Production (IIP) with base 2011-12 stands at 134.6. The Indices of Industrial Production for the Mining, Manufacturing and Electricity sectors for the month of July 2022 stand at 101.1, 135.2 and 188.9 respectively. These Quick Estimates will undergo revision in subsequent releases as per the revision policy of IIP.

3. As per Use-based classification, the indices stand at 131.7 for Primary Goods, 97.8 for Capital Goods, 148.9 for Intermediate Goods and 150.1 for Infrastructure/ Construction Goods for the month of July 2022. Further, the indices for Consumer durables and Consumer non-durables stand at 121.5 and 143.0 respectively for the month July 2022.

4. Details of Quick Estimates of the Index of Industrial Production for the month of July 2022 at Sectoral, 2-digit level of National Industrial Classification (NIC-2008) and by Use-based classification are given at Statements I, II and III respectively. Quick Estimates of Index of Industrial Production and Use-Based Index for the Month of March, 2022 (Base 2011-12=100)

2. For the month of March 2022, the Quick Estimates of Index of Industrial Production (IIP) with base 2011-12 stands at 148.3. The Indices of Industrial Production for the Mining, Manufacturing and Electricity sectors for the month of March 2022 stand at 144.6, 144.6 and 191.0 respectively. These Quick Estimates will undergo revision in subsequent releases as per the revision policy of IIP.

3. As per Use-based classification, the indices stand at 153.3 for Primary Goods, 110.0 for Capital Goods, 154.8 for Intermediate Goods and 170.5 for Infrastructure/ Construction Goods for the month of March 2022. Further, the indices for Consumer durables and Consumer non-durables stand at 128.8 and 149.3 respectively for the month March 2022.

4. Details of Quick Estimates of the Index of Industrial Production for the month of March 2022 at Sectoral, 2-digit level of National Industrial Classification (NIC-2008) and by Use-based classification are given at Statements I, II and III respectively. Also, for users to appreciate the changes in the industrial sector, Statement IV provides month-wise indices for the last 12 months, by industry groups (as per 2-digit level of NIC-2008) and sectors.

5. Along with the Quick Estimates of IIP for the month of March 2022, the indices for February 2022 have undergone the first revision and those for December 2021 have undergone final revision in the light of the updated data received from the source agencies. The Quick Estimates for March 2022, the first revision for February 2022 and the final revision for December 2021 have been compiled at weighted response rates of 90 percent, 91 percent and 94 percent respectively.

6. Release of the Index for April 2022 will be on Friday, 10th June 2022.

2. For the month of April 2021, the Quick Estimates of Index of Industrial Production (IIP)with base 2011-12 stands at 126.6. The Indices of Industrial Production for the Mining, Manufacturing and Electricity sectors for the month of April 2021 stand at 108.0, 125.1 and 174.0 respectively. These Quick Estimates will undergo revision in subsequent releases as per the revision policy of IIP.

3. As per Use-based classification, the indices stand at 126.7 for Primary Goods, 82.4 for Capital Goods, 137.9 for Intermediate Goods and 134.8 for Infrastructure/ Construction Goods for the month of April 2021. Further, the indices for Consumer durables and Consumer non-durables stand at 112.4 and 142.3 respectively for the month of April 2021.

4. It may be noted that the nationwide lockdown and other measures implemented to restrict the spread of Covid 19 pandemic from the end of March 2020, had led to a majority of the establishments not operating in April 2020 and consequently, there were many units which reported ‘Nil’ production, affecting comparison of the indices for the months of April 2020 and April 2021.

5. Details of Quick Estimates of the Index of Industrial Production for the month of April 2021 at Sectoral, 2-digit level of National Industrial Classification (NIC-2008) and by Use-based classification are given at Statements I, II and III respectively. Also, for users to appreciate the changes in the industrial sector, Statement IV provides month-wise indices for the last 12 months, by industry groups (as per 2-digit level of NIC-2008) and sectors.

6. Along with the Quick Estimates of IIP for the month of April 2021, the indices for March 2021 have undergone the first revision and those for January 2021 have undergone the final revision in the light of the updated data received from the source agencies. The Quick Estimates for April 2021, the first revision for March 2021 and the final revision for January 2021 have been compiled at weighted response rates of 85 percent, 92 percent and 95 percent respectively.

7. Release of the Index for May 2021 will be on Monday, 12thJuly 2021.

Quick Estimates of Index of Industrial Production and Use-Based Index for the Month of March, 2019

The Quick Estimates of Index of Industrial Production (IIP) with base 2011-12 for the month of March 2019stands at 140.2, which is 0.1 percent lower as compared to the level in the month of March 2018. The cumulative growth for the period April-March 2018-19 over the corresponding period of the previous year stands at 3.6 percent.

2. The Indices of Industrial Production for the Mining, Manufacturing and Electricity sectors for the month of March 2019 stand at 132.6, 139.6 and 160.1 respectively, with the corresponding growth rates of 0.8 percent, (-) 0.4 percent and 2.2 percent as compared to March 2018 (Statement I). The cumulative growth in these three sectors during April-March 2018-19 over the corresponding period of 2017-18 has been 2.9 percent, 3.5 percent and 5.2 percent respectively.

3. In terms of industries, twelve out of the twenty three industry groups (as per 2-digit NIC-2008) in the manufacturing sector have shown negative growth during the month of March 2019 as compared to the corresponding month of the previous year (Statement II). The industry group ‘Manufacture of furniture’ ‘has shown the highest negative growth of (-) 24.6 percent followed by (-) 18.5 percent in ‘Manufacture of other transport equipment’ and (-) 15.3 in‘Manufacture of fabricated metal products, except machinery and equipment’. On the other hand, the industry group ‘Manufacture of tobacco products’ has shown the highest positive growth of 13.5 percent followed by 10.6 percent in ‘Manufacture of computer, electronic and optical products’ and 9.3 percent in ‘Manufacture of wood and products of wood and cork, except furniture; manufacture of articles of straw and plaiting materials’.

4. As per Use-based classification, the growth rates in March 2019 over March 2018 are 2.5 percent in Primary goods, (-) 8.7 percent in Capital goods, (-) 2.5 percent in Intermediate goods and 6.4 percent in Infrastructure/ Construction Goods (Statement III). The Consumer durables and Consumer non-durables have recorded growth of (-) 5.1 percent and 0.3 percent respectively.

5. Details of item groups exhibiting larger variations in production in absolute terms and weighted terms in Statement IV.

6. Along with the Quick Estimates of IIP for the month of March 2019, the indices for February 2019 have undergone the first revision and those for December 2018 have undergone the final revision in the light of the updated data received from the source agencies.

7. Statements giving Quick Estimates of the Index of Industrial Production at Sectoral, 2-digit level of National Industrial Classification (NIC-2008) and by Use-based classification for the month of March 2019, along with the growth rates over the corresponding month of the previous year including the cumulative indices are enclosed.

8. Release of the Index for April 2019 will be on Wednesday, 12June 2019.
