Dear Principal,

CENBOSEC, CBSE’s biannual e-magazine, serves as a valuable platform for sharing innovative pedagogical practices, school initiatives, and success stories from across the CBSE affiliated schools. The e-magazine also highlights efforts undertaken by schools in alignment with the vision of the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 and the National Curriculum Framework for School Education (NCFSE) 2023.

In today’s rapidly changing world, schools play a crucial role in creating awareness, preparedness, and resilience among students and communities to face emergencies and disasters effectively. Recognizing the importance of safety education and preparedness, the theme for the CENBOSEC biannual Edition (January-June 2026) is:

“Resilient Schools, Safe Futures: Disaster Management in Action”

This edition aims to showcase innovative and practical initiatives undertaken by schools to promote disaster preparedness, risk reduction, safety awareness, and emergency response mechanisms. Schools are encouraged to share their actual practices, activities, and success stories demonstrating how disaster management has been integrated into school culture and student learning.

Schools are requested to submit articles and cover design entries for the forthcoming issue of CENBOSEC on or before 30th July 2026.

Sub-Themes:

  • 1. Climate Change, Disaster Preparedness and Safety Drills in Schools
  • 2. Community Participation, Health Emergencies and Psychological Well-being
  • 3. Innovation and Technology for Disaster Risk Reduction
  • 4. Integrating Disaster Management into Classroom Teaching

Activity A: Entries Invited from Educators: Principals and teachers are invited to send their ‘original articles’ in Hindi or English on any of the sub-themes given above for the forthcoming issue of CENBOSEC, using the Google form link https://forms.gle/BUZtywbEASUiuW3c6. A committee of experts will select the best articles for publication in this issue. The decision of the committee will be final.

Schools may choose to explore any one of the following sub-themes and submit the entries highlighting innovative and action-oriented practices undertaken by the school. A few suggestive activities based on the sub-theme are given for reference:

Sub-Themes

1. Climate Change, Disaster Preparedness and Safety Drills in Schools

(Suggested activities)

  • Conduct of earthquake, fire, flood, or evacuation mock drills
  • Development and implementation of School Disaster Management Plans
  • Student safety committees and emergency response teams
  • Heat action plans and awareness campaign
  • Water conservation and flood preparedness initiatives
  • Activities addressing climate-related disasters and environmental sustainability

2. Community Participation, Health Emergencies and Psychological Well-being

(Suggested activities)

  • Preparedness during pandemics and health-related emergencies
  • Awareness programmes on hygiene, sanitation, and first aid
  • Counselling and emotional support initiatives during crisis situations
  • Collaboration with NDRF/SDRF, fire departments, hospitals, or local authorities and Training students in first aid, emergency communication, rescue techniques, and basic survival skills
  • Community awareness campaigns led by students
  • Relief, rehabilitation, or recovery support initiatives undertaken by schools

3. Innovation and Technology for Disaster Risk Reduction

(Suggested activities)

  • Use of digital tools/apps for emergency preparedness
  • Student projects/models on disaster mitigation
  • Student-led research projects on local disasters and community preparedness
  • Integration of technology in safety awareness and communication systems

4. Integrating Disaster Management into Classroom Teaching

(Suggested activities)

  • Classroom activities linking disaster management with Science, Social Science, Geography, Languages, and Art Education
  • Experiential learning projects on earthquakes, floods, cyclones, droughts, and climate change
  • Preparation of student portfolios, models, posters, and awareness materials on disaster preparedness
  • School exhibitions, surveys, mapping activities, and field visits related to disaster risk reduction
  • Role play, storytelling, debates, and simulations on emergency response and resilience
  • Use of art-integrated learning to promote safety and resilience education

The articles may include:

  • Case studies of activities conducted in schools
  • Reports of mock drills, campaigns, projects, or awareness programmes
  • Innovative classroom or community-based practices
  • Student-led initiatives related to disaster preparedness and safety
  • Use of technology and local resources for disaster risk reduction

Important Note:

Submissions must focus on actual activities and strategies implemented by schools. Articles should clearly describe the initiatives undertaken, participation of students/teachers/community, outcomes achieved, and key learnings. General guidelines, theoretical descriptions, or AI- generated content without evidence of implementation will not be considered for publication. Originality and authenticity of entries are essential.

Activity B: Cover Design Competition: Students are invited to submit ‘original cover design’ artwork aligned with the theme “Resilient Schools, Safe Futures: Disaster Management in Action”, using the Google form link https://forms.gle/TNHFAiqxVFWqhT697. Selected artwork may be featured on the cover page of the CENBOSEC Edition (January-June 2026).

The guidelines for submission of articles and cover design is attached at Annexure 1.

You are requested to disseminate the above information among all the stakeholders and encourage them to ensure their maximum participation in submitting the articles and cover designs.
