Vacant Posts in Kendriya Vidyalayas
3497. Dr. Alok Kumar Suman:
Will the Minister of EDUCATION be pleased to state:
(a) the total number of vacant post of teaching and non-teaching staff in Kendriya Vidyalayas in the country;
(b) whether it is a fact that Kendriya Vidyalayas in Bihar are facing acute shortage of teaching and non-teaching staff, particularly in district Gopalganj, if so, the details thereof;
(c) whether the Government has taken any steps to fill such vacant posts in Bihar and if so, the details thereof;
(d) whether it is a fact that most of the schools have contractual employees for teaching and non-teaching position violating the norms of positive discrimination policy of the Government and if so, the reasons therefor; and
(e) whether it is also a fact that reservation policy in the appointment of such contractual posts in Bihar is not being followed, if so, the reasons in this regard?

(a) & (b) As per information received from Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan (KVS), as on 01.06.2025, 7765 teaching posts and 1617 non-teaching posts are vacant across the country. The vacancy positions of teaching and non-teaching staff in KVs located in the State of Bihar particularly in district Gopalganj, are as under:

(c) to (e) Filling up of vacancies is a continuous process and efforts are made to fill up the vacancies as per the provisions of the relevant recruitment rules. Vacancies keep on arising due to opening of new Kendriya Vidyalayas (KVs), retirement, resignation, promotion of employees, transfer, employees going on lien to another department and up-gradation of schools. Teachers are also engaged on contractual basis against sanctioned posts vacancies for temporary duration by KVS to ensure that the teaching-learning process is not hampered.
Recruitment for regular staff is conducted centrally by KVS, 12867 offers of appointments for various posts of teaching and non-teaching staff were issued through Direct Recruitment during mission recruitment from September, 2022 to 12.07.2025 by KVS to fill up the vacant posts across the country including in the State of Bihar. The reservation policy is implemented in KVS in accordance with the rules and guidelines of the Government of India.
