Closure of Kendriya Vidyalaya, NTPC, Badarpur, Delhi
Kendriya Vidyalaya (KV) NTPC, located in Badarpur, Delhi, was established in the academic year 1981-82 to serve the educational needs of children of NTPC employees. Funded by NTPC Badarpur, the school has operated under a model where all recurring and non-recurring expenses, along with an administrative overhead of 15%, were covered by the sponsoring authority.

However, the closure of the NTPC Badarpur unit in 2018 has significantly impacted the school’s financial viability. With the cessation of funding, NTPC has indicated its inability to continue supporting KV NTPC, Badarpur. The future of the institution hangs in the balance, as the matter is currently under judicial consideration in the Hon’ble High Court of Delhi, raising concerns over the educational continuity for the students enrolled in the school. This situation emphasizes the challenges faced by educational institutions reliant on corporate sponsorship and the importance of securing sustainable funding sources for their operations.
