LDA Housing Scheme Plans Mega Townships Along Key Expressways in Lucknow
The LDA Housing Scheme is a significant initiative aimed at urbanizing areas surrounding key expressways in Lucknow, spearheaded by the Lucknow Development Authority (LDA) and the Uttar Pradesh Housing Development Council. The project focuses on creating modern and affordable housing solutions to support the growing population and urban development in the region.
Key Highlights of the LDA Housing Scheme:
1. Expressway Development:
Agra Expressway: The LDA plans to develop a large township spanning 5,610 acres across land acquired from 12 villages in Kakori block. This project will unfold in two phases:
- Phase I: 1,893.93 acres
- Phase II: 3,716.14 acres
The Agra Expressway connects important cities such as Agra, Firozabad, Mainpuri, and Kanpur, enhancing connectivity and potential for growth.
Purvanchal Expressway: Recognized as a vital route linking eastern Uttar Pradesh with the rest of the state, the Purvanchal Expressway will host a new housing scheme covering 500 acres along New Jail Road. The development will include residential plots and essential community facilities such as schools, hospitals, and shopping centers. This initiative has been named Saumitra Vihar, aiming to cater to both local residents and those relocating from the Purvanchal region.
Lucknow-Kanpur Expressway: This expressway, also referred to as National Expressway-6, is set for completion by 2025. A new residential scheme on 500 acres is in the pipeline, strategically located near the Lucknow Ring Road and the International Airport, making it an attractive investment area. The location is poised to benefit from the expanding industrial and commercial corridor between Lucknow and Kanpur.
2. Targeted Outcomes:
The combined efforts of these three township projects aim to accommodate over 800,000 residents. The developments will feature high-quality residential facilities along with commercial and educational infrastructures, thus fostering a well-rounded living environment.
Notably, a 100-acre education city will be constructed along the Purvanchal Expressway, offering comprehensive educational facilities from pre-primary through higher education, including technical and medical training.
3. Project Status:
As stated by Neeraj Shukla, the Additional Housing Commissioner of the Housing Development Council, survey work for the schemes has been completed, and the design and tender processes are expected to commence shortly.
This ambitious housing scheme reflects a strategic approach to urbanization, aiming to enhance living standards while ensuring accessibility and modern amenities for future residents.
