Subject: Tentative Date Sheets for Board Examinations Classes-X and XII – 2026
Madam/Sir,
This is to inform you that the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) will conduct the following Board Examinations during the period from 17th February 2026 to 15th July 2026:
1. Main Examinations for Classes X and XII
2. Examinations for Sports Students -Class XII
3. Second Board Examinations – Class X
4. Supplementary Examinations -Class XII
In 2026, approximately 45 lakh candidates are expected to appear in 204 subjects across Classes X and XII from India and 26 countries abroad. Alongside the conduct of examinations, several other activities such as practical, evaluation, and post-result processes will be undertaken to ensure timely declaration of results.
To facilitate effective planning and execution of responsibilities by all stakeholders, CBSE has decided to release tentative date sheets for the following examinations, based on registration data of Class IX and XI for the year 2025:
- Main Examinations – Class X
- Main Examinations -Class XII
- Second Board Examinations -Class X
This initiative is expected to yield the following benefits :
- Students can prepare structured study plans to enhance their performance.
- Schools can align their academic and administrative activities, including deployment of teachers for examination and evaluation duties.
- Teachers can plan their personal schedules, including vacations, with greater clarity.
As a general guideline, evaluation of answer scripts will commence approximately 10 days after the conduct of each subject’s examination and will be completed within 12 days. For instance, if the Class XII Physics examination is scheduled for 20th February 2026, evaluation is likely to begin on 3rd March 2026 and conclude by 15th March 2026.
Please note that these date sheets are tentative. Final date sheets will be issued upon submission of the final list of candidates by the schools.
