Targets for the Hill States under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana – Gramin (PMAY-G)

The Ministry of Rural Development is steadfastly working towards the goal of “Housing for All” in rural India through the implementation of the Pradhan Mantri Awaas Yojana- Gramin (PMAY-G) since April 1, 2016. This initiative aims to provide assistance to 4.95 crore eligible rural households, ensuring access to basic amenities by March 2029. As of August 7, 2025, significant progress has been made with a cumulative target of 4.12 crore houses allocated to various States and Union Territories (UTs). Out of these, 3.85 crore houses have received sanction, while 2.82 crore houses have been successfully completed.

For the fiscal year 2024-25, a total target of 84.45 lakhs houses has been set for States/UTs, with 92,364 houses specifically designated for Himachal Pradesh. Additionally, the State of Uttarakhand has already met its allocation targets set by the Ministry, having saturated its existing lists under the SECC 2011 and Awaas+ 2018 schemes by the end of FY 2023-24. This concerted effort underscores the government’s commitment to ensure adequate housing and improve living conditions in rural areas across India.

BENEFICIARIES IN HILL STATES UNDER PMAY–G

Will the Minister of RURAL DEVELOPMENT be pleased to state:

(a) whether the Government has set any targets for the Hill States under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana – Gramin (PMAY-G) for the financial year 2024–25;

(b) if so, the details thereof;

(c) whether the Government has extended the benefits of the scheme to all eligible beneficiaries in the Hill States; and

(d) if so, the details thereof?

(a) to (d): In order to achieve the objective of “Housing for All” in rural areas, the Ministry of Rural Development is implementing Pradhan Mantri Awaas Yojana- Gramin (PMAY-G) with effect from 1st April 2016 to provide assistance to 4.95 crore eligible rural households with basic amenities by March 2029. As on 7th August 2025, a cumulative target of 4.12 crore houses have been allotted to States/UTs out of which 3.85 crore houses have been sanctioned and 2.82 crore houses have been completed.

In the FY 2024-25, a target of 84.45 lakhs was allocated to States/UTs, out of which, a target of 92,364 houses was allocated to the State of Himachal Pradesh. The State of Uttarakhand have already been allocated targets by the Ministry, saturating both its existing SECC 2011 and Awaas+ 2018 lists by FY 2023-24.
