ASSESSMENT AND EXPANSION OF THE PM INTERNSHIP SCHEME

Will the Minister of Corporate Affairs be pleased to state:
(a) the number of applications received, accepted, and completed under the PM Internship Scheme since its inception, State-wise and district-wise in Andhra Pradesh;
(b) the list of empanelled companies, sector-wise, and how many internships have been offered by each of that, especially in sunrise sectors such as AI, green energy, and semiconductors;
(c) the number of interns from Andhra Pradesh who secured employment post internship and whether this is tracked;
(d) whether the scheme focuses on rural youth, SC/ST/OBC, women, and first-generation learners; and

(e) whether partnerships with local educational institutions, MSMEs, and skilling centres in Andhra Pradesh have been established to improve outreach and quality?

(a): The Prime Minister Internship Scheme (PMIS) was announced in the Budget 2024-25. It aims to provide internship opportunities to one crore youth in top 500 companies in five years. As an initiation to this Scheme, Ministry of Corporate Affairs has launched a Pilot Project of the Scheme on 3rd October, 2024, which is targeted to provide 1.25 lakh internship opportunities to the youth in a year.
In the round I of the PM Internship Scheme Pilot Project, the partner companies posted more than 1.27 lakh internship opportunities on the PMIS Portal across the country. Against this, more than 6.21 lakh applications were received from about 1.81 lakh candidates. Partner companies made over 82,000 internship offers to over 60,000 candidates, out of which more than 28,000 candidates accepted offers to join the internship, and over 8700 candidates joined their internship.
In the round II of the PM Internship Scheme Pilot Project, which commenced on 9th January, 2025, about 327 Partner Companies have posted over 1.18 lakh internship opportunities (new and edited unfilled opportunities of previous round) across 735 districts of the country. Over 4.55 lakh applications were received from over 2.14 lakh applicants, in this round. As on 23.07.2025, partner companies have made over 72000 offers to the youth and over 22800 offers have been accepted. Currently, rolling out of offers and the process of acceptances/ joining by interns is in progress.
State wise list of candidates who have completed their profiles on the PMIS Portal is enclosed at Annexure I.
District wise details of candidates who have completed their profiles on the portal from different districts of Andhra Pradesh is attached at Annexure II.
(b) The list of the top 500 companies selected on the basis of average Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) expenditure in the last 3 years, covers a large number of diverse sectors including Aviation and Defence, Automotive, Banking and Financial Services, Chemical Industry, Oil, Gas and Energy etc. Further, to promote internships in emerging sectors, pilot project guidelines have a provision that any other company/ bank/ financial institution desirous of participating in the Scheme, may do so with the approval of the Ministry of Corporate Affairs (MCA), which would take a view keeping in view underrepresented sectors and areas in the above mentioned 500 companies. The list of the Partner Companies is available at https://pminternship.mca.gov.in. Participation of the companies in this scheme is voluntary. Details of the companies sector-wise, which have posted internship opportunities in the Round I and II of the PM Internship Scheme Pilot Project is provided at Annexure III and IV respectively.
(c): Under the pilot project, companies have provided internship opportunities to the youth for a duration of one year, which is still ongoing. No such data is available.
(d): As per the Guidelines of the PM Internship Scheme- Pilot Project, a pool of candidates based on the number of applications, is shortlisted for each internship opportunity through the Portal. The shortlisting process is aimed at promoting diversity and social inclusivity in the internship program through providing for representation of Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes, Other Backward Classes as well as Persons with Disabilities in the shortlist sent to the concerned company for further selection as per their respective processes and criterion.
(e): The Ministry of Corporate Affairs is actively working with various stakeholders such as state governments, central government ministries & departments, and industry associations for promotion and implementation of the scheme. In Andhra Pradesh, MCA has actively collaborated with State Government to carry out extensive Information, Education and Communication activities, including workshops, seminars, and promotional campaigns – both online and on-ground to amplify program visibility and to reach out to the target groups in various districts of the State. With active support from Nodal Department, awareness campaigns were carried out at ITIs, Diploma, degree, and graduate colleges. The Nodal Department is also providing support in monitoring the implementation of the Pilot Project on a regular basis.
Further, the PMIS Portal is accessible in 12 different languages, including Telugu, to enhance inclusivity from different geographical regions of the country.
