BENEFICIARIES REGISTERED UNDER PMAY-U

Will the Minister of Housing and Urban Affairs be pleased to state:

(a) the total number of beneficiaries registered and houses built under Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY-U) in Bihar, district- wise including Bhagalpur district;

(b) the total amount of funds approved and released by the centre to build houses under PMAY-U in Bihar, district-wise; and

(c) whether the Government has any proposal to improve the rate of construction and ensure housing for all under PMAY-U and if so, the details thereof?

(a) & (b): Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs is implementing Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana-Urban (PMAY-U) – ‘Housing for All’ Mission, since 25.06.2015 for giving Central assistance to States/ Union Territories (UTs) including State of Bihar for providing all- weather pucca houses to all eligible urban beneficiaries.

Under PMAY-U, a total of 3,26,546 houses have been sanctioned in the State of Bihar, involving Central assistance of Rs. 5,165.61 crore; of which Rs. 2,544.76 crore have been released.

District-wise details of houses sanctioned, grounded for construction, completed along with Central assistance approved and released to State of Bihar including Bhagalpur district are at Annexure.

(c): Under PMAY-U, a total of 122.69 lakh houses have been sanctioned  across  the  country.  Against  the  sanctioned  houses, 102.23 lakh have been grounded for construction; of which 61.50 lakh are completed/ delivered to beneficiaries.

Completion of projects generally takes 12-36 months in different verticals of the Scheme. Out of the total 122.69 lakh sanctioned houses, around 41 lakh houses have been sanctioned in the last two years. States/ UTs have been advised to expedite the construction of sanctioned houses so that all houses are completed within the stipulated timeline as per Detailed Project Reports.

Ministry regularly monitors progress of the Scheme through periodic review meetings, video-conferences and field visits. For effective monitoring of construction of sanctioned houses, Geo-tagging/ Geo- fencing are being done using Bhuvan Portal. Central assistance is released to beneficiaries through Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) Mode.
