HOUSES TO COMMON MAN AT AFFORDABLE PRICE
Will the Minister of Housing and Urban Affairs be pleased to state:
(a) whether Government is aware that the price of houses has become out-of-reach for the common people;
(b) the steps taken by Government during the last three years to provide houses to the common man at affordable price; and
(c) to what extent these steps have been successful?

(a) Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs does not maintain data on prices of houses.
(b) & (c) ‘Land’ and ‘Colonisation’ are State subjects. The Union Government through Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana-Urban (PMAY-U) is augmenting efforts of States/Union Territories (UTs) to meet the housing demand through financial assistance to States/UTs for addressing the housing requirement particularly of Economically Weaker Section (EWS) of the societies in urban areas. During the last three years, i.e. 2018-19, 2019-20 and 2020-21, under PMAY-U, 74,36,097 houses have been sanctioned, of which 41,13,825 houses have been completed and delivered to the beneficiaries.
