THE MINISTER OF STATE FOR FOOD PROCESSING INDUSTRIES

(SHRI RAMESWAR TELI)

(a) to (d): The Ministry of Food Processing industries (MoFPI) is implementing a Central Sector umbrella scheme Pradhan Mantri Kisan SAMPADA Yojana (PMKSY) for overall growth and development of food processing sector with an outlay of Rs. 6000 Crore for the period 2016-17 to 2019-20. The period has since been extended to 2020-21. An additional component scheme “Operation Green (OG)” was introduced in PMKSY in November, 2018 with an outlay of Rs 500 Crores. PMKSY is not a region or state specific scheme and is demand driven with no state-wise fund allocation. The status of projects approved for creation of preservation/ processing capacity under component schemes of PMKSY during the past three years and current year is placed at Annexure- I.

MoFPI has approved one Agro Processing Cluster, one Creation of Backward & Forward Linkages Project and one Integrated Cold Chain Project in Theni district of Tamil Nadu under respective component schemes of PMKSY. The project details are placed at Annexure-II

As part of Aatmanirbhar Bharat initiative, MoFPI is implementing a centrally sponsored “PM Formalisation of Micro Food Processing Enterprises (PMFME) Scheme” for providing financial, technical and business support for upgradation/ setting up of two lakh micro food processing units based on One District One Product (ODOP) approach over a period of five years from 2020-21 to 2024-25 with an outlay of Rs. 10,000 crore. Under the scheme, MoFPI has approved 137 unique food products/ perishable produce as ODOP for 707 districts of 35 States/ UTs. As per the Union Budget 2021, the scope of the Operation Green scheme is being expanded from tomato, onion & potato(TOP) to 22 perishables for value chain creation.
