FRAMEWORK FOR NIRBHAYA FUND
BACKGROUND
Violence and abuse against women and girls is frequent on streets,  in public transportation and in other public places. It is a non-lapsable corpus fund, being administered by Department of Economic Affairs, Ministry of Finance.

As per the guidelines issued by  Ministry  of Finance dt 25.03.2015, the  Ministry  of Women and Child Development (MWCD) is the nodal Ministry to appraise/recommend proposals and schemes to be funded under Nirbhaya Fund.  MWCD further has the responsibility…

How to Check Employees Provident Fund Balance?

Image
Money gets credited for me into an account. When can I withdraw it?
Normally, one is not allowed to withdraw amounts from one's EPF account. However, exceptions are made if the employee wants to be self-employed or is no longer working. Other exceptions include education, marriage or medical expenses of the immediate family, and repaying housing loans. In case of unemployment, 75 per cent after 1st month and the remaining 25 per cent after the 2nd month of unemployment can be withdrawn. One needs to fill a declaration with a specified reason, along with Form 19, and have it attested from the former employer, for withdrawing the money. Along with a canceled cheque from the employee's savings bank account, one needs to submit the form along with a letter stating that one is no longer employed by a company to the EPFO of one's jurisdiction.

Pradhan Mantri Matru Vandana Yojana
Under-nutrition continues to adversely affect majority of women in India. In India, every third woman is undernourished and every second woman is anemic. An undernourished mother almost inevitably gives birth to a low birth weight baby. When poor nutrition starts in-utero, it extends throughout the life cycle since the changes are largely irreversible. Owing to economic and social distress many women continue to work to earn a living for their family right up to the last days of their pregnancy. Furthermore, they resume working soon after childbirth, even though their bodies might not permit it, thus preventing their bodies from fully recovering on one hand, and also impeding their ability to exclusively breastfeed their young infant in the first six months.
