Will the Minister of COMMUNICATIONS be pleased to state:
(a) the details of the number of Passport Seva Kendras (PSKs) functioning in Tamil Nadu, district wise;
(b) the details about the number of persons who availed services of these centres during the last three years along with the passport issued/renewed;
(c) whether people still face difficulties while getting the passport and if so, the details thereof along with the corrective steps being taken in this regard;
(d) whether there is any proposal to start Post Office Passport Seva Kendras (POPSKs) in all district of the country and if so, the details thereof including the number of POPSKs, set up so far in Tamil Nadu;
(e) whether there is a shortage of manpower and infrastructure facilities at POPSKs if so, the reasons therefor including the measures taken by the Government in this regard; and
(f) the details of the extent to which getting passports is likely to become easier through POPSKs along with its style of functioning?

(a) The details of the number of Passport Seva Kendras (PSKs) operated by the Ministry of External Affairs and functioning in Tamil Nadu are at Annexure-I. District-wise details of Post Office Passport Seva Kendras functioning in Tamil Nadu are at Annexure-II.
(b) 4.82 lakh passport applications have been processed in Post Office Passport Seva Kendras (POPSKs) in Tamil Nadu Circle in the last three years. Passport Seva Kendras (PSKs), operated by the Ministry of External Affairs have processed, 16.57 lakh passport applications in the last three years out of which 16.22 lakh passports have been issued in the last three years.
(c) No sir.
(d) There is no proposal to start Post Office Passport Seva Kendra in all districts of the country. List of Post Office Passport Seva Kendras set up in Tamil Nadu Circle is at Annexure-II.
(e) No sir.
(f) Setting up of 430 Post Office Passport Seva Kendras in various districts of the country has increased accessibility for the citizens for applying for Passports.
