NATIONAL PENSION SCHEME FOR TRADERS AND SELF-EMPLOYED PERSONS

144. SHRI KRISHNA PRASAD TENNETI:

Will the Minister of LABOUR AND EMPLOYMENT be pleased to state:

(a)the details of the total number of beneficiaries under the National Pension Scheme for Traders and Self-Employed Persons during the last five years and the current year, year and State/UT-wise, including Bapatla Lok Sabha Constituency in Andhra Pradesh;

(b)the details of the funds allocated and utilised under the scheme during the last five years and the current year, year and State/UT- wise, including district-wise in the said constituency;

(c)the details of the number of persons enrolled under the scheme, State/UT-wise and district-wise in the said constituency; and (d)whether the Government has carried out any promotional/awareness campaign for the purposes of making Indian citizens aware of the National Pension Scheme for Traders and Self-employed Persons and if so, the details thereof?

(a) to (d): The cumulative number of beneficiaries under National Pension Scheme for Traders and Self-Employed Persons as on 26.11.2025 is 60,538. Constituency wise data is not maintained under this scheme. However, State/UT-wise details is annexed as Annexure – I.

The scheme is demand driven. The total funds allocated and utilized is as per the provisions of the scheme.

The measures taken by the Government to increase awareness and enrollment among traders and self-employed include following:

  • (i) holding periodic review meeting with States/ UTs.
  • (ii) regular meeting with state Common Services Centre (CSC) heads.
  • (iii) launch of new features such as Voluntary Exit, Revival Module, Claim Status and Account Statement.
  • (iv) communication with Chief Secretaries of States/UTs regarding enrolment under this scheme.
  • (v) Interaction with Department of Financial Services, Pension Fund Regulatory and Development Authority, National Institute of Public Finance and Policy to increase the outreach of the pension scheme.
