Will the Minister of MINORITY AFFAIRS be pleased to state:

(a) the number of applications received under the Pre-matric Scheme, Post-matric Scholarship Scheme, Merit-cum-Means Scholarship for Professional-Technical Courses and Begum Hazrat Mahal National Scholarship for the academic Year 2022-23;

(b) the present status of the applications under the said schemes;

(c) whether 11.65 lakh applications (about 64%) have been blocked; and

(d) if so, the details thereof and the reaction of the Government thereto?

(a) to (d):The Government has implemented various schemes for the welfare and upliftment of every strata, including minorities, especially the economically weaker and lesser privileged sections of the society, through various schemes of the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship, Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment, Ministry of Textiles, Ministry of Culture, Ministry of Women and Child Development and Ministry of Rural Development. Ministry of Minority Affairs has specifically implemented various schemes, including Pre- Matric, Post Matric and Merit-cum-Means Scholarship schemes, across the country for socio- economic and educational empowerment of the six notified minority communities.

The number of the applications received under the Pre-Matric, Post-Matric, Merit-cum-Means Based Scholarship Scheme and Begum Hazrat Mahal National Scholarship for the academic Year 2022-23 is given below:

Ministry has entrusted National Council of Applied Economic Research (NCAER) to undertake ‘Monitoring and Evaluation of Central Government Minority Scholarship Scheme’, wherein some irregularities have been noticed. The Ministry has taken action in this regard to make the scholarship disbursal process more transparent and seamless
