DDA to launch Housing Scheme 2023 in June; 23,000 flats for LIG & EWS

The Delhi Development Authority (DDA) is expected to launch its housing scheme in June 2023, which will offer around 23,000 newly developed flats for people from lower income group (LIG)  and economically weaker section(EWS) categories. Most flats in the new housing scheme are located at Narela and would be allotted through a computerised draw of lots, officials said.

Vijender Gupta, a member of the DDA said that the housing scheme would be launched only after it is approved in the authority meeting. The scheme was earlier scheduled to be launched in May 2023, according to the report.

The scheme will be launched after approval and the authority will invite applications. The price of the DDA flats will be finalised before the formal launch.

On September 12, 2022, the authority announced the launch of its online running housing scheme 2022, offering flats on a first come, first serve basis. It offered 8,500 flats for sale at Narela in north Delhi under EWS and LIG categories.

The flats belonging to the EWS category were available between Rs 7.91 lakh and Rs 12.42 lakh, while the LIG category flats had a price range of Rs 18.10 lakh and Rs 22.80 lakh.

DDA has an inventory of about 40,000 unsold flats at Narela, Dwarka and Jasola. Most of the housing units located at Narela, are for the EWS, mentioned media reports. According to the officials, around 16,000 of these flats remained unsold, mainly due to a lack of proper connectivity and infrastructure.

According to the latest rules, people owning a flat or plot of land in the city with an area of less than 67 square metre, can now apply for the allotment of newly built flats offered by the DDA for the first time. Thus, this will benefit those who were earlier not eligible to buy flats due to having a DDA flat or land in Delhi, either in their name or in the name of their family members.
