Will the Minister of WOMEN AND CHILD DEVELOPMENT be pleased to state:

(a) whether the Beti Bachao Beti Padhao Scheme has been successful in establishing the improvement in Child Sex Ratio as a National Agenda and if so, the details thereof along with the manner in which the said scheme has benefited the girl child;

(b) whether the Government has also identified specific districts in all States under this scheme and if so, the details thereof and the districts selected in Tamil Nadu along with financial allocation made by the Government, State-wise including Tamil Nadu; and

(c) the number of beneficiaries enrolled under the scheme, district/constituency-wise including Bareilly and Aonla in Uttar Pradesh?

(a) Beti Bachao Beti Padhao (BBBP) Scheme aims to improve declining Child Sex Ratio in the country and create an enabling environment for the education of girl child which requires long-term attitudinal change. The Scheme acknowledges Sex Ratio at Birth (SRB) trends as a monitorable target. As per Health Management Information System (HMIS) reports of Ministry of Health & Family Welfare (MoHFW), SRB has improved from 918 in 2014-15 to 931 in 2018-19.

(b) )The Beti Bachao Beti Padhao Scheme, a central sector scheme,  is being implemented in all 640 districts (as per census 2011) of the countryw.e.f. 08th March,  2018. Out of 640 districts, 405 gender critical districts worst in CSR including 11  districts of Tamil Nadu are covered through Multi-sectoral intervention and Media &  Advocacy and the remaining 235 districts including 21 districts of Tamil Nadu are covered through Media & Advocacy  outreach  only.    The  details  of  number  of  districts covered through Multi- sectoral intervention and Media & Advocacy in all States/UTs including Tamil Nadu are at Annexure-1 List of the Districts covered under  BBBP in Tamil Nadu is at Annexure-II. The financial allocations made to the States/UTs including Tamil Nadu are at Annexure – III.

(c) BBBP is an awareness campaign to sensitize public and to induce change in mindset of people towards valuing the girl child and her education. To sensitize the masses, Nation-wide media campaign (360 degree approach ) is implemented across  the country to address and engage with everyone at community and society level.  68 Districts in Uttar Pradesh are covered under Multi-Sectoral Intervention and Media & Advocacy and 3 Districts are covered under Media & Advocacy only. List of the Districts covered under BBBP in Uttar Pradesh is at Annexure-IV. Various activities undertaken in district/ constituency of Bareilly and Aonla in Uttar Pradesh include organizing cultural programmes, celebration of birth of girl child, rallies, prabhat pheri, signature campaign and celebration of Girl child day etc.
