NUCLEAR POWER REACTORS

Will the PRIME MINISTER be pleased to state:
- (a) the details of the number of nuclear power reactors operational across the country, State/UT-wise along with the details of their total installed capacity;
- (b) the details of the number of nuclear power reactors under construction across the country, State/UT-wise including West Bengal and Gujarat along with the details of their total installed capacity;
- (c) the details of the funds sanctioned, allocated and utilised for these under construction nuclear power reactors across the country, State/UT-wise along with the details of the targets set and achievements made thereunder so far;
- (d) whether the Government has recently accorded administrative approval and financial sanction to some of the States including West Bengal and Maharashtra to establish nuclear reactors in their States; and
- (e) if so, the details thereof, State/UT-wise and the reasons therefor along with the funds sanctioned for this purpose?

STATEMENT REFERRED TO IN REPLY TO LOK SABHA STARRED QUESTION NO. 59 DUE FOR ANSWER ON 06.02.2019 BY SHRI GEORGE BAKER AND SHRI PARBHUBHAI NAGARBHAI VASAVA REGARDING NUCLEAR POWER REACTORS.
(a) The details are given as Annexure-1.
(b)&(c)The details of nuclear power projects under construction by Nuclear Power Corporation of India Limited (NPCIL) are given as Annexure-2.
The details of nuclear power project under construction by Bharatiya Nabhikiya Vidyut Nigam Limited (BHAVINI) are as under

Prototype Fast Breeder Reactor (PFBR) is in advance stage of integrated commissioning and it is expected to approach first criticality by the year 2020.
(d)&(e)The Government has accorded administrative approval and financial sanction of 12 nuclear power plants totaling to a capacity of 9000 MW in June-2017. The details are given below:

The Government has accorded ‘In-Principle’ approval of the sites, namely Haripur in East Midnapur district of West Bengal and Jaitapur in Ratnagiri district of Maharashtra among others, to locate Nuclear Power Projects. Presently, there is no proposal for administrative approval and financial sanction for these projects.
