Will the Minister of DEVELOPMENT OF NORTH EASTERN REGION be pleased to state:
(a) whether the work under the North East Special Infrastructure Development Scheme (NESIDS) is under progress;
(b) if so, the details thereof;
(c) the details of the progress and intention of the Government under NESIDS;
(d) the steps being taken by the Government for water supply, electricity and connectivity under physical infrastructure project;
(e) the provision made by the Government to promote tourism; and

ANSWER

Development of North Eastern Region
[Dr. Jitendra Singh]
(a) to (f) The broad objective of North East Special Infrastructure Scheme (NESIDS) is to ensure focused development of North East Region by providing financial assistance for projects of physical infrastructure relating to water supply, power and connectivity to enhance tourism and social sectors for creation of infrastructure in the areas of primary and secondary sectors of education and health. Under NESIDS, 59 projects costing Rs.1835.35 crore have been sanctioned, against which Rs.439.19 crore have been released so far. All the sanctioned projects under the scheme are at various stages of implementation. The sector-wise details of projects sanctioned under NESIDS are as under:
