DDA to hold draw of lots for special housing scheme today

Delhi Development Authority Special Housing Scheme 2021: The wait is over, draw of lots on April 18; know how to check flats’ status

Special Housing Scheme 2021, which is offering 18,335 flats of different categories at multiple locations in Delhi, is scheduled to be held on April 18.

Currently, 18,335 flats are up for sale across four different categories—economically weaker section (EWS)/ Janta flats, lower-income group (LIG), middle-income group (MIG) and higher income group (HIG) — in the national capital’s Dwarka, Narela, Jasola, Rohini and other areas.

Officials said although the DDA received 22,170 applications for the special housing scheme so far, only 12,400 people have made the payment. It is crucial to mention in this context that most of these flats were returned by the previous allottees of housing schemes.

On 23 December 2021, the scheme was launched and was closed on March 10, and the number of applicants is thus much less than the total number of flats on sale.

NBT quoted an unnamed official as saying, “The DDA is going to conduct the draw for allotment of flats under the DDA Special Housing Scheme 2021 from 3 pm on April 18.” It will be organised in the presence of judges and senior DDA officials.

He went on to add that the general public can watch the live telecast of the draw through live streaming at dda.golivecast.in.

The DDA had announced the scheme through a newspaper advertisement in which it had mentioned that the flats were being sold at “concessional prices” in an earnest attempt to attract buyers for its unsold flats. Further, the authority gave the green signal to amend housing norms to allow the public to take part in its schemes even if they or their family members own a flat or plot in Delhi.

As per the DDA, the maximum price of a flat in the HIG category in Jasola is approximately Rs 2.14 crore. In the list, 205 flats belong to HIG, 976 to MIG, 11,452 to LIG and 5,702 to EWS/Janta category.

Earlier, the last date to submit an application for the scheme was February 7. On public demand and due to the third wave of the Covid-19 pandemic, the date was extended till March 10.
