Will the Minister of LABOUR AND EMPLOYMENT be pleased to state:
(a) whether the unemployment rate in the country is highest of all times as on date;
(b) if so, the details thereof;
(c) whether the appointments in the Ministry of Railways and other Ministries have been canceled or suspended;
(d) if so, the details thereof; and
(e) whether the Government has been able to provide jobs to only 7 lakh 22 thousand youths in the last nine years?

(a) to (e): The data on Employment and Unemployment is collected through Periodic Labour Force Survey (PLFS) which is conducted by the Ministry of Statistics & Programme Implementation (MoSPI) since 2017-18. The survey period is July to June every year.
As per the latest available Annual PLFS Reports, the estimated Worker Population Ratio (WPR) and Unemployment Rate (UR) on usual status for persons of age 15 years and above during the years 2017-18 to 2022-23 are as follows:

The data indicates that the unemployment rate in the country has a declining trend and worker population ratio, indicating employment, has an increasing trend over the years. During 2017-18 to 2022-23, the employment has increased by 9.2%.
Creation and filling up of posts in the Central Government is responsibility of the concerned Ministry/ Department. Filling up of vacant posts in various Ministries/ Departments is a continuous process and efforts are made to fill up the vacancies as per the provisions of the relevant recruitment rules.
