Beneficiaries of Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana State/UT- wise details of Physical progress during last five years : The Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs supplements the efforts of States/UTs in addressing housing needs through Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana- Urban (PMAY-U). As of 29.01.2024, 118.63 lakh houses have been sanctioned, 114.01 lakh grounded, and 80.02 lakh completed/delivered to beneficiaries.

Will the Minister of HOUSING AND URBAN AFFAIRS be pleased to state:

(a) the number of houses provided to the beneficiaries in different States of the country so far under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY) during the last five years along with the number of such eligible beneficiaries;

(b) whether many households are still not able to get the benefit of the scheme and if so, the details thereof particularly in regard to Dadra and Nagar Haveli and Daman and Diu;

(c) the measures being taken by the Government to provide houses under the scheme to the deprived households; and

(d) the details of the action taken in this regard, State and district-wise?

ANSWER

(a) to (d) Land and Colonization are State subjects. Therefore, the respective State/ Union Territory (UT) Governments are mandated to address the housing needs of its population. However, the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs, under the vision of ‘Housing for All’, supplements the efforts of States/ Union Territories (UTs), by providing Central assistance under Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana- Urban (PMAY-U), for construction of houses for all eligible beneficiaries in urban areas since 25.06.2015.

PMAY-U is a demand driven scheme and Ministry has not fixed any target. Based on demand and local conditions, States/UTs prepare project proposals and submit to the Ministry in a phased manner for sanctioning of admissible Central assistance. Under PMAY-U, a total of 118.63 lakh houses have been sanctioned as on 29.01.2024. Of the sanctioned houses, 114.01 lakh have been grounded for construction; of which 80.02 lakh have been completed/delivered to the beneficiaries.

In Dadra and Nagar Haveli and Daman and Diu during the last five years (FY 2018-19 to 2022-23), 7508 houses have been sanctioned, 8985 houses have been grounded for construction and 8221 houses have been completed.

State/UT-wise details of houses sanctioned, grounded for construction and completed during the last five years (FY 2018-19 to 2022-23) under PMAY-U are at Annexure.

The scheme period, which was earlier upto 31.03.2022, has since been extended upto 31.12.2024, except Credit Linked Subsidy Scheme (CLSS) vertical of the scheme, to complete all the houses sanctioned without changing the funding pattern and implementation methodology.
