No any Electric Vehicle Factories in the Country

Will the Minister of HEAVY INDUSTRIES be pleased to state:

(a) whether the Government has given any approval to companies to open Electric Vehicle factories in the country during the current year;

(b) if so, the details of these companies;

(c) whether the Government has also given Production Linked Incentives (PLI) to companies to produce advanced battery cell in the country as a part of green technology; and

(d) if so, the details of investment made on the above till date?

(a) & (b):     No Sir. The Ministry of Heavy Industries does not give any approval to companies to open electric vehicle factories in the country during the current year.

(c) & (d): Sir, the Government on 12th May, 2021 approved the Production Linked Incentive (PLI) Scheme for ‘Advanced Chemistry Cell (ACC) Battery Storage’ for achieving manufacturing capacity of 50 GWh for enhancing India’s Manufacturing Capabilities with a budgetary outlay of Rs. 18,100 crore. Additionally, 5GWh of niche ACC technologies is also covered under the Scheme.

Under PLI ACC Scheme, three entities have been awarded the ACC capacities i.e. Rajesh Exports Limited – 5 GWh, Ola Electric Mobility Private Limited – 20 GWh & Reliance New Energy Solar Limited – 5 GWh. The details of the investment made by the selected entities during the financial year 2022-23 under PLI Scheme for ACC are attached as ANNEXURE.
