Chandigarh Housing Board : 15k small flat allottees owe CHB ₹50cr, told to pay up in 10 days
As many as 15,273 out of total around 16,000 small flat allottees owe the Chandigarh Housing Board (CHB) more than Rs 50 crore in pending rental dues, prompting the board to issue a warning to the deposit them within 10 days or face eviction.
The board has cancelled the allotment of 68 small flat allottees due to unauthorized occupants.
The flats are located in Sectors 49, 56, 38 (West), Dhanas, Industrial Area, Mauli Jagran, Ram Darbar, Maloya (Small Flats) and Maloya (ARHC).

Yashpal Garg, chief executive officer, CHB, said, “Some of the allottees are not paying the monthly licence fee on regular basis. The list of outstanding dues of the allottees has been uploaded on the website of the CHB. The outstanding dues can be paid online on the website of the CHB www.chbonline.in and also at any of the Sampark centre.”
In case of cancellation of allotment, the occupier of the flat will be evicted. Further, for restoration of allotment, the allottee will be required to prove his/her bonafide and also to clear all pending dues with applicable interest and to pay revival charges.
The CHB has allotted about 16000 flats under Small Flats Scheme and about 2000 flats under the Affordable Rental Housing Complex Scheme. These flats have been allotted for the occupation of allottee and their families on monthly licence fee and these flats cannot be sold/sub-let/transferred/handed over to other persons.
“The allottees who have illegally sold/sub-let/transferred the flats and the purchasers both are liable to face action for the fraud/cheating/forgery etc. The persons who may be known from whatever name like property dealer/document writer/middleman/property consultant/facilitator/financier, who are involved in the illegal transactions of sell/sub-let/transfer of small flats are also liable to face action for being part of the criminal conspiracy for such illegal transactions,” said Garg.
During the months of June/July 2022, door-to-door surveys were conducted and it was observed that some of the small flats were occupied by unauthorised persons.
