CBSE Chairperson Interacts With Participants At The Adolescent Summit Pune

The Sahodaya School Complex, Pune in collaboration with Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) organized two days’ State level Adolescent Summit in Pune city on 19th and 20th  June, 2023, which concluded successfully today. The spot light of the Summit was on Life Skills, Mental Health, Safety and Well Being and Gender Equality.
This adolescent Summit was planned on the sides of the 4th  and final G-20 Education Working Group (EdWG) meeting hosted by the Ministry of Education in Pune.

CBSE has planned yearlong student enrichment activities to enable school students to understand the dynamics and India’s position at the global level to highlight India’s Presidency of the G20 for the first time. 200 active Sahodaya School clusters across the country have been mobilized to organize awareness activities on various aspects of school education, curriculum design and evaluation in cities where G-20 meetings have been scheduled. Students of Class VI to XII have also been engaged in inter-school competitive, collaborative school activities and exhibitions.
Smt. Nidhi Chhibber, IAS, Chairperson CBSE interacted with more than 500 educationists, experts and students from CBSE affiliated schools from the State. She also  discussed teaching learning practices and pedagogy, capacity building and training of teachers as part of the implementation of NEP-2020 initiatives taken up by the Board such as Structured Assessment for Analyzing Learning (SAFAL), Holistic Progress Card, School  Quality Assessment and Assurance Framework (SQAAF).
The themes of the summit Life Skills, Mental Health, Safety and Well Being and Gender Equality were discussed through street plays, quizzes, musical performances and youth parliament being initiated and organized by adolescents.
Outlining the purpose of the Adolescent Summit, Smt. Chhibber said, “It is  important  to facilitate and enable the students to think critically, innovate and communicate to become the change makers.” She further said, “Such activities may inspire the students to act towards a futuristic, prosperous, inclusive and developed society distinguished by the human centric approach at its core.
Padma Shri Dr. Mohan Agashe, the noted theatre and film personality and a  well-known psychiatrist was the keynote speaker. Dr Agashe enumerated how learning happens with interest and intelligence. He also highlighted the importance of the language of sound and images and five senses in learning.
An exhibition put up by several participating schools was also inaugurated in the presence of Dr. Joseph Emmanuel, Director, CBSE, Dr. Praggya M. Singh Director (Assessments), Dr. Jitendra Nagpal, Programme Director, Expressions India, Ms. Deeksha Kalyani Director of Kalyani group of schools, Ms. Savita Travis, President of  Pune  Sahodaya  Complex,  Ms. Nirmal Waddan, Principal, Kalyani School, Sh. Ram Veer, Regional Officer, CBSE Pune.
 
Noted experts in the field of mental health, practicing psychiatrists, educators and students took part in panel discussions and sessions.
Led by chairperson CBSE, the summit exemplified collaborations and engagements among CBSE, Principals, Mental Health Experts, Young Students translated in cross- learning and spirit of Janbhaagidari.
