Will the Minister of FOOD PROCESSING INDUSTRIES be pleased to state:
(a) whether the Food Processing Sector is one of the major employment intensive industries in the country;

(b) if so, the details of employment opportunities generated in Tamil Nadu during each of the last three years;

(c) whether the Government has carried out any study to identify the manpower required to cater to the increasing demand in the Food Processing Sector and if so, the details and the outcome thereof;

(d) the details of job-oriented training programmes and centres in the country for capacity building and skill development for operation of Food Processing Industries (FPIs) and Mega Food Parks (MFPs) in the country and the number of persons who got training in Tamil Nadu for the purpose during each of the last three years and the current year; and

(e) the details of incentives provided to food processing entrepreneurs for setting up of FPIs and MFPs and strengthening existing capacity of food processing units during the said period?

STATEMENT REFERRED TO IN REPLY TO PART (a) TO (e) OF LOK SABHA STARRED QUESTION NO. 62* FOR ANSWER ON 07TH FEBRUARY 2023 ON “EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITY IN FPIS”
(a) & (b): Yes, Sir. Food processing sector contributes 12.2 % of total persons engaged in the registered manufacturing sector. The number of the persons engaged in food processing sector in Tamil Nadu during the last three years are given below:

(c): The Ministry of Food Processing Industries (MoFPI) had commissioned a study titled “Study to Assess Human Resource and Skill Requirements in Indian Food Processing Sector during 2021-2030” through M/s. Feedback Business Consulting Services Private Limited, Bangalore. As per the study report, submitted in 2022, the additional human resource requirement in the food processing sector during 2021- 30 is around 13.4 lakh persons.
(d): The details of the candidates trained/oriented during the last three years and current year in the food processing sector under PM Kaushal Vikas Yojana (PMKVY) being implemented by Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship is given below:

Out of this, 2129 candidates have been trained/oriented in Tamil Nadu during the last three years and current year in the food processing sector under PMKVY.
MoFPI is not implementing any skill development scheme. The Capacity Building component of the PM Formalization  of  Micro   Food   Processing   Enterprises   (PMFME)   Scheme   envisages   to provide Entrepreneurship Development Training to the PMFME micro-food processing entrepreneurs
 
availing credit linked subsidy and seed capital under the scheme. Training has been provided to 28 master trainers, 15 district level trainers and 71 beneficiaries in Tamil Nadu.
(e): MoFPI implements various schemes to promote overall growth of food processing sector. Incentives / grant provided under various schemes of MoFPI are as under:
