B.Ed. Admissions in IITs

Will the Minister of EDUCATION be pleased to state:

(a) whether the Government has taken a decision that B.Ed. admission will be conducted in some Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs) in the current academic year and in all IITs across the country in the coming year;

B.Ed. admission will be conducted in some Indian Institutes of Technology

(b) if so, the details thereof;

(c) whether the Government has analyzed the impact in the education sector in every State by implementing the above decision;

(d) if so, the details thereof;

(e) whether the Government has consulted all the stakeholders before taking such decision; and

(f) if so, the details thereof and if not, the reasons therefor?

(a) to (f): As per the mandate of National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, National Council for Teacher Education (NCTE) has conceptualized the plan of action for piloting Integrated Teacher Education Programme (ITEP) in multidisciplinary institutions. A consultative meet was held amongst the participating Teacher Education Institutions (TEIs) and to share the Draft of Suggestive Curriculum Framework on ITEP (4-Yrs Integrated Teacher Education Programme) on 30th December 2020. Vice Chancellor of several Universities, teacher education professionals, academicians, teachers and other stakeholders participated for a collective exercise of understanding, expanding and reformulating the approach towards initial teacher preparation in alignment with NEP 2020. Vide Gazette Notification dated 26.10.2021, NCTE notified the Regulations for ITEP 2021. NCTE invited applications from Central and State Government Institutions/ Universities between 1.05.2022 to 31.05.2022 on the ITEP portal for the academic session 2023-24. Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs)- Kharagpur, Madras, Guwahati and Bhubaneswar have submitted their applications.
