(a): Section 9B of the MMDR Act empowers the State Government to establish District Mineral Foundation in all the Districts affected by mining. The objective of DMF is to work for the interest and benefit of persons and areas affected by mining related operations in such manner as prescribed by the State Government. As per PMKKKY guidelines issued vide order dated16.09.2015,affected area has been divided into two categories viz. (i) directly affected area; and (ii) indirectly affected area. Directly affected areas are those areas where direct mining- related operations such as excavation, mining, blasting, beneficiation and waste disposal(overburdened dumps, tailing ponds, transport corridors etc.), etc. are taken up and indirectly affected areas are those areas where local population is adversely affected on account of economic, social and environmental consequences of mining-related operations.

(b): Information on details of projects in high priority areas is enclosed as Annexure I.

(c): The details of total amount spent year-wise and the balance fund currently available under DMF is enclosed as Annexure II.
