The SHRESHTA is fully funded by the Department of Social Justice & Empowerment which is being rolled out from session 2022-23 onwards. It aims at providing residential educational opportunities for meritorious SC students (both boys and girls). The enclosed brochure has all details about the SHRESHTA scheme. The salient points include:

1. It provides an entry at class 9th and 11th in select CBSE affiliated private residential schools for completion of education till 121h standard. The selection is through a national level test NETS (National Entrance Test for SHRESHTA) to be conducted by the National Testing Agency in Computer Based Test Mode.

2. The scheme involves disbursement of scholarships directly to the admission granting schools. The scholarships cover school fee (including Tuition Fee etc.) and Hostel Fee (including Mess Charges etc.) subject to maximum limit as mentioned in the brochure. Tentative number of seats from the year 2022-23 till 2025-26 , the obligations on the part of schools for admissions and the provision of Bridge Course etc. have all been covered out in the brochure.

3. The scheme is applicable only for residential schools (independent) affiliated with the CBSE upto Class 12th. Schools must be in operation for 5 years or more with 75 % pass percentage or more in Class 10 and 12 in last 3 years.
