SAINIK SCHOOLS IN KARNATAKA
Will the Minister of Defence be pleased to state:
(a) whether the Government proposes to set up sainik school in the name of freedom fighter Sangolli Rayanna at his birth place in Belgaum district of Karnataka;
(b) if so, the details thereof along with the funds sanctioned, released, utilised for the purpose;
(c) the area of land provided by the State Government for the school campus;
(d) the details of amenities or facilities available in the said campus; and
(e) whether the Government also proposes to set up the school campus as tourist destination and if so, the details thereof?

(a) to (e): No, Sir. Instead, the State Government of Karnataka had proposed to set up Kranthi Veera Sangolli Rayanna Sainik School at Belgaum district of Karnataka on the erstwhile pattern of Sainik Schools.
Meanwhile, in response to the initiative of the Government for setting up of 100 new Sainik Schools in partnership with NGOs/Private Schools/State Governments under the aegis of Sainik Schools Society, Ministry of Defence, an application from State Government of Karnataka for Kranthi Veera Sangolli Rayanna School situated at Belgaum district of Karnataka has been received by Sainik Schools Society, Ministry of Defence on web portal http://sainikschool.ncog.gov.in. The application is subject to short-listing for approval based on meeting of qualifying requirements framed for the purpose and agreeing to the Rules & Regulations of New Sainik Schools in Partnership mode and signing of the Memorandum of Agreement with the Sainik Schools Society.
