VACANCIES IN RASHTRIYA MAHILA KOSH

Will the Minister of WOMEN AND CHILD DEVELOPMENT be pleased to state:

(a) total number of sanctioned posts in the Rashtriya Mahila Kosh (RMK);

(b) total number of vacancies presently in the Rashtriya Mahila Kosh;

(c) steps taken to fill the vacancies of posts;

(d) total amount to funds released under the RMK for the years 2018-19 till present and a State-wise list of the same;

(e) total number of women supported through RMK and a State-wise list of the same; and

(f) total number of loans disbursed to Intermediary Micro-Finance Organisations (IMO’s) for the years 2018-19 till present and a State-wise list of the same?

STATEMENT REFERRED TO IN REPLY TO PART (A) TO (F) OF RAJYA SABHA STARRED QUESTION NO.195 FOR 05.08.2021 BY SHRI PARTAP SINGH BAJWA REGARDING ‘VACANCIES IN RASHTRIYA MAHILA KOSH’

(a) & (b): The total number of sanctioned posts and vacant posts in the Rashtriya Mahila Kosh (RMK) are 37 and 24 respectively.

(c): In light of the recommendation for closure of RMK in the report of the Principal Economic Adviser to the Government of India on ‘Rationalisation of Government Bodies’ released in November, 2020, since the Government has decided to close down RMK, the question of filling up any vacancies of posts in RMK does not arise.

The decision to close down RMK has been taken as it has lost its relevance and utility in the present scenario with substantial alternative credit facilities becoming available to women through various governmental initiatives and efforts such as Jan Dhan Yojana, PM Mudra Yojana etc and also to avoid duplicacy of efforts.

(d) to (f): State-wise total number of loans disbursed to Intermediary Micro-Finance Organisations (IMOs) for the years 2018-19 till present is at Annexure-I and State- wise total number of women supported through RMK is at Annexure-II.
