Yogi Adityanath led Uttar Pradesh government has started the process of providing jobs to migrant workers in villages. For this purpose, CM announced that the UP Migrant Labourers First list of Skill Mapping is now ready. Migrants who are returning from other states to UP can now check their name in the UP Migrant Labourers Skill Mapping 1st List. Earlier, CM had started Pravasi Rahat Mitra App and a new rahatup.in portal for skill mapping of migrants. Now each pravasi shramik will get internship, placement and employment opportunities.
Chief Minister mentioned in his tweet in Hindi that the UP state govt. has prepared class wise first list of migrants after skill mapping. Moreover, the preparation has also been started to form a new Migrant Welfare Commission. Yogi Adityanath is going to adopt a 2 pronged strategy for migrant workers. Also after skill mapping, the main focus will be on providing internship and then placement to migrant labourers.

The state govt. of Uttar Pradesh has started the process of formation of a new Labour (Sewayojan and Employment) Welfare Board. Till date, more than 24 lakh migrant labourers have returned to UP amid Coronavirus (COVID-19) lockdown. Each of the migrants has been mapped as per their skills in the prepared UP Migrant Workers Skill Mapping 1st List. This list contains the name and skill mapping of around 14.75 migrant workers and the process is still ongoing which is to be completed in the next 15 days.
The skill, labour and capabilities of migrant labourers will serve the UP state and can turn it into an economic powerhouse. The abilities of these migrant workers can be utilized in creating physical infrastructure which will boost economy. UP govt. wants the state become Atmanirbhar (self reliant) by setting up more and more manufacturing units in the state.
Yogi Adityanath is going to adopt a 2 pronged strategy for migrant workers which are as follows:-
- UP govt. will setup migrant commission to help find jobs for workers returning home.
- Any state that wants to make use of labourers from UP will now have to seek permission from Uttar Pradesh state government.
About 25 lakh migrants, workers and their families have returned to Uttar Pradesh after being stranded for weeks in other states due to the lockdown imposed to fight coronavirus. UP govt. was committed to a safe and respectable homecoming for the workers and to provide them with jobs and social security.
The planned migrants commission will look into the following things:-
- Protecting rights of workers.
- Prevention of exploitation of migrant workers.
- Creation of framework to ensure socio-economic and legal support labourers.
- Providing Insurance facility.
- Social security to workers.
- Re-employment assistance.
- Provision for unemployment allowance.
