The Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD)has embarked on a major and new initiative called 'Study Webs of Active Learning for Young Aspiring Minds' (SWAYAM), which provides one integrated platform and MOOCs (Massive Open Online Courses) portal for online courses, using Information and Communication Technology (ICT) and covering all higher education subjects and skill sector courses. Till date, more than 39 Lakhs learners have been enrolled in more than 1600+ MOOCs courses that have been run through SWAYAM. 60,000 persons have completed the courses. India today submitted its Sixth National Report (NR6) to the Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD) .The report was submitted online to the CBD Secretariat by the Union Environment Minister, Dr. HarshVardhan, during the inaugural session of the 13th National Meeting of the State Biodiversity Boards (SBBs) organized by the National Biodiversity Authority (NBA) in the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change (MoEFCC), New Delhi. The water storage available in 91 major reservoirs of the country for the week ending on December 27, 2018 was 86.373 BCM, which is 53% of total storage capacity of these reservoirs. This percentage was at 55% for the week ending on December 20, 2018. The level of water storage in the week ending on December 27, 2018 was 98% of the storage of corresponding period of last year and 93% of storage of average of last ten years.

It is also mentioned under section 52 (1) of the above act, that no owner of a motor vehicle shall so alter the vehicle that the particulars contained in the certificate of registration are at variance with those originally specified by the manufacturer. Cumulative No of Houses Sanctioned Under Pmay(U) now More than 68.5 Lakh Uttar Pradesh Gets 1,08,135 Houses,Karnataka– 1,05,502, Andhra Pradesh-57,433, Odisha – 21,894 and Gujarat – 17,633  The Ministry of Housing & Urban Affairs has approved the construction of another 3,10,597 more affordable houses for the benefit of urban poor under Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (Urban). The approval was given in the 41st meeting of the Central Sanctioning and Monitoring Committee held here today.The cumulative number of houses sanctioned under PMAY(U) now is 68,54,126.

The details of employment provided to households and expenditure reported by States/UTs in Management Information System (MIS) under the Mahatma Gandhi NREGS during the last three years and current year (as on 21.12.2018) is given at Annexure. Schedule-I of the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act, 2005 (MGNREGA) stipulate the works to be taken up by the State Government under the Scheme of the Act. The Schedule is revised from time to time based on feedback received from the States/UTs and other stakeholders.
This information was given by the Minister of State for Rural Development, Shri Ram Kripal Yadav in Lok Sabha today.

The Department of Agriculture, Cooperation & Farmers Welfare (DAC&FW) fixes target for the production of foodgrains in the country annually. The target for the production of foodgrains has been fixed at 290.25 million tonnes for the 2018-19.The production of foodgrains in the country has been estimated at 284.83 million tonnes (4th Advance Estimates) for 2017-18, which is a record.

On 24 Dec 18 at 1040 hrs Western Air Command of Indian Air force launched two Cheetah helicopters, of the Udhampur based unit “HOVERING HAWKS” to carry out casualty evacuation from Chanderkot helipad on a short notice. As per initial information received a civil bus on move from Badgam to Kanpur fell into the valley near Ramban which led to several critical casualties. At 1045 hrs, 02 heptrs and 02 set of crew were standby to takeoff from Udhampur to Chanderkot helipad where the casualties were initially evacuated. On getting a go ahead for one heptr at 1050 hrs, Wg Cdr V Mehta as captain with co-pilot Arunima Vidhate got airborne from Udhampur. Meanwhile after ascertaining the requirement, on the call of Wg Cdr V Mehta, second heptr got airborne from Udhampur with SqnLdr SK Prasad as captain and Flt Lt Siddhant Yadav as co-pilot.

Ministry of Power, Government of India has decided to make all meters smart prepaid in 3 years from 1st April, 2019. This step is likely to bring revolution in power sector by way of reduction in AT&C losses, better health of DISCOMs, incentivisation of energy conservation, ease of bill payments and doing away with the paper bills. Move towards smart meters is a pro poor step as consumers need not pay the whole month's bill in one go, instead they can pay as per their requirements. Manufacturing of smart prepaid meters will also generate skilled employment for the youth.
It may be recalled that the State Governments had earlier signed the Power for All document and had agreed to supply 24*7 power supply to their consumers. Thus the distribution licensee shall provide 24*7 power to their consumers by 1st April, 2019 or earlier. How…
