Subject: Mission Life Style For Environment (LiFE)-reg.

Dear Principal

LiFE was introduced by the Honorable Prime Minister at COP26 in Glasgow on 1st November 2021 as a mass movement for “mindful and deliberate utilization, instead of mindless and destructive consumption” and to protect and preserve the environment. It aims to nudge individuals and communities to practice a lifestyle that is synchronous with nature and does not harm it.

Mission LiFE is an India-led global mass movement to prod individual and community action to protect and preserve the environment. It aims to mobilize a large number of people to actively take part in the campaign and encourages individuals to adopt lifestyles that are beneficial for both personal well-being and the environment. It creates awareness about the importance of conservation, moderation and sustainable practices.

In view of the above, to promote Mission LiFE and create awareness about environment concerns amongst the stakeholders following activities are suggested for schools:

1. Schools can participate and organize the activities for the students as per the Calendar of Activities at Annexure – I. Schools are requested to submit a brief report about the activities (through the portal that shall be shared shortly with all) at end of the academic year.

2. The Board has launched a handbook for schools titled “Mission Shunya for Environment” which is available at CBSE Academic Website. This handbook provides guidelines to the schools to attain Zero Carbon Footprint through conservation in 5 major areas viz Energy, Biodiversity, Water, Waste and Transport.

In this regard, the Board will be organizing a series of webinars for the Heads/teachers of the CBSE-affiliated schools on the conduct of 05 types of Audits with the help of the “Mission Shunya for Environment” Handbook. There will be no fee for attending these workshops. The details will be shared later.

For any query, you may contact at [email protected] With Best Wishes.
