Will the Minister of HEALTH AND FAMILY WELFARE be pleased to state:
(a) Whether the Government has set up any effective mechanism for granting permission for local purchase of medicines, authorization of local chemists and providing medical reimbursement facility under the CGHS AYUSH Arogya Kendras;
(b) If so, the details thereof and if not, the reasons therefor;
(c) The total number of CGHS beneficiaries/ patients benefitting from the facilities under each of such initiative/system, State/UT-wise;
(d) The quantum of funds spent on the Siddha Units during the last five years, Unit/dispensary- wise including Ramtek, Nagpur parliamentary constituency in Maharashtra;
(e) Whether the Government proposes to open and expand new AYUSH Arogya Kendra particularly Siddha Kendra in the country and if so, the details of steps taken in this regard; and
(f) If not, the reasons therefor?
ANSWER

(a) to (f) Essential AYUSH Medicines are generally available in CGHS AYUSH Arogya Kendras. Authorized Local Chemists (ALCs) are empanelled under Ayurveda, Homeopathy and Unani Systems of Medicines under CGHS, Delhi & NCR. If any medicine is not readily available under these streams of medicine in Delhi & NCR, they are indented through ALCs and supplied to CGHS beneficiaries.
In case, any Ayush Medicine under Ayurveda, Homeopathy and Unanai systems of medicines in other cities, is not available in CGHS AYUSH Arogya Kendras, the beneficiaries are permitted to purchase such medicines and claim reimbursement. For medicine under Siddha stream in all cities, including Delhi & NCR, the preceding procedure is followed. All CGHS beneficiaries are eligible to avail these facilities. Budget allocation under CGHS is integrated for all systems of medicines i.e. Allopathy as well as AYUSH stream. The Expenditure incurred on Medicines under CGHS in the last five years is as under:

Department of Expenditure, Ministry of Finance has approved opening of 27 Homeopathy and 26 Ayurveda Units in different cities, out of which 14 Homeopathy units and 7 Ayurvedic units are functional. Government considers opening of new AYUSH Units based on the justification of utilization of services and creation of new posts of Staff by the Department of Expenditure, Ministry of Finance.
