LPG Connections provided under PMUY

Will the Minister of PETROLEUM AND NATURAL GAS be pleased to state:
(a) the number of LPG connections provided under Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana (PMUY) since the inception of the scheme till November, 2023, State/UT-wise, especially in the Thane district of Maharashtra, classified as active and inactive;
(b) the number of refillings done under PMUY during the last two years in Thane district of Maharashtra;
(c) whether the Government proposes to run any campaign to increase this number and if so, the details thereof; and
(d) the details of refillings done under the said scheme during the last one year in Maharashtra categorized as one refill, two refills, three refills and four or more refills?
ANSWER

(a): Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana (PMUY) was started in May, 2016 with an objective to provide access of clean cooking fuel to poor households across the country. Under PMUY, deposit free LPG connections are provided to adult women from poor households as per defined criteria. As of 30.09.2023, 9.59 Crore PMUY connections have been released in the country including 0.48 lakh in Thane district of Maharashtra. All PMUY connections are kept active. State/UT-wise details of active LPG connections released under PMUY are at Annexure.
(b): PMUY consumers in Thane district of Maharashtra took 2.42 lakh refills in FY 2021-22 & 2.47 lakh refills in 2022-23.
(c): To improve LPG usage amongst PMUY beneficiaries, Public Sector Oil Marketing Companies (OMCs) have organized LPG panchayats, social media campaigns, public events for the distribution of connections and public awareness campaigns etc. across the country. Government has taken several steps to encourage consumption of LPG, which include targeted subsidy of Rs.200/- per 14.2 Kg refill upto 12 refills/year for PMUY beneficiaries for years 2022-23 and 2023-24, increase in targeted subsidy to ₹ 300 per 14.2 kg cylinder for up to 12 refills per annum since October 2023, option of 5 Kg Double Bottle Connection (DBC), swap option from 14.2 kg to 5 Kg, upto 3 free refills to PMUY beneficiaries under Pradhan Mantri Garib Kalyan Package from April 2020 to December 2020 etc. For ease of refill booking various methods have been provided viz. Interactive Voice Response System(IVRS), Short Message Service(SMS), Whatsapp, calling directly on the phone of distributor, e- commerce platforms, OMC mobile applications, OMCs web-portals etc.
(d): The number of PMUY beneficiaries who took 1 refill, 2 refills, 3 refills and 4 or more refills including installation refill during last financial year in Maharashtra is as below:
