IMPLEMENTATION OF PMMVY

Will the Minister of WOMEN AND CHILD DEVELOPMENT be pleased to state:

(a) whether the Government has been successful in the implementation of Pradhan Mantri Matru Vandana Yojana (PMMVY);

(b) if so, the details thereof indicating number of beneficiaries covered under the scheme, State-wise;

(c) whether the Government has devised a mechanism, under PMMVY, for ensuring proper identification and for avoiding duplication of beneficiaries; and

(d) if so, the details thereof?

(a) & (b) Yes, Sir. The Ministry of Women and Child Development is successful in implementing the Pradhan Mantri Matru Vandana Yojana (PMMVY) across the country (except the States of Odisha and Telangana). The States of Odisha and Telangana are implementing their own maternity benefit schemes. Since inception of the scheme, more than 2.89 crore Pregnant Women and Lactating Mothers (PW&LM) have been enrolled and ₹11,217.39 crore has been disbursed as on 15.07.2022. The State/UT-wise number of beneficiaries enrolled, number of beneficiaries provided maternity benefits and total amount disbursed during the last five years and the current financial year till 15.07.2022 is at Annexure.

(c) & (d) Since the inception of the scheme, the cash incentives under PMMVY are transferred directly into the bank/post office account of the beneficiary through the Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) mode. Further, the implementation guidelines of umbrella scheme   Mission   Shakti,   (which   also   includes   PMMVY   under   sub- component Samarthya), provide that benefits under PMMVY can be availed only on the basis of Aadhaar number of beneficiary, so as to avoid any duplication or malpractices.
