AIR CONNECTIVITY FOR SMALL CITIES

Will the Minister of CIVIL AVIATION be pleased to state:-
(a) whether Government has any action plan to provide air connectivity to small cities of the country under UDAN scheme;
(b) if so, the details thereof;
(c) the number of cities covered under UDAN schemes so far, the details thereof, State-wise; and
(d) the steps taken by Government to connect small cities under UDAN scheme in the State of Telangana?

(a) & (b): Ministry of Civil Aviation launched Regional Connectivity Scheme (RCS) – UDAN (Ude Desh ka Aam Nagrik) on 21-10-2016 to stimulate regional air connectivity from unserved and underserved airports in the country by making air travel affordable to the masses. Airports Authority of India(AAI), the Implementing Agency, has completed four rounds of bidding under UDAN and identified 778 valid UDAN routes so far involving 110 UDAN airports including 12 water aerodromes & 33 Helipads for operation of UDAN flights. 323 UDAN routes have already commenced connecting 48 airports, 2 water aerodromes and 5 heliports.
(c): The details of the airports/heliports/water aerodromes identified under UDAN are attached as Annexure-A.
(d): Airports Authority of India (AAI), the Implementing Agency, has identified 52 RCS routes in the State of Telangana for operation of the RCS flights.
