IMPLEMENTATION OF PM-SYM YOJANA

Will the Minister of Labour and Employment be pleased to state:

(a)the status of implementation of the Pradhan Mantri Shram Yogi Maan-dhan (PM-SYM) Yojana;

(b)the number of people currently enrolled in the scheme, State-wise; and

(c)the  details  of  institutions  tasked  with  the  management  of  the funds?

STATEMENT REFERRED TO IN REPLY TO PART (a) TO (c) OF RAJYA SABHA STARRED QUESTION NO. 167 FOR 10.03.2021 RAISED BY SHRI KAMAKHYA PRASAD TASA REGARDING IMPLEMENTATION OF PM-SYM YOJANA.

(a) to (c): In order to provide old age protection to unorganised sector workers, in March, 2019, the Government of India has launched a flagship scheme namely Pradhan Mantri Shram Yogi Man Dhan Yojana (PM-SYM) to provide monthly minimum assured pension of Rs.3000/- after attaining the age of 60 years. This is a voluntary and contributory pension scheme. The workers in the age group of 18-40 years whose monthly income is Rs.15000/- or less and not a member of EPFO/ESIC/NPS can join the scheme. Under the scheme, 50% monthly contribution is payable by the beneficiary and equal matching contribution is paid by the Central Government. Enrolment to the Scheme is done through the Common Service Centres. In addition eligible persons can also self-enroll through visiting the portal www.maandhan.in. As on 04.03.2021, over 44.90 lakhs workers have been enrolled/registered under the scheme. The state-wise details of number of enrolment under the PM-SYM scheme is at Annexure. Life Insurance Corporation of India (LIC) is the Pension Fund Manager and shall be responsible for pension pay-out.
