Will the Minister of HOUSING AND URBAN AFFAIRS be pleased to state:

(a) whether a project scheme to step up affordable housing in the country has been recently launched by the Prime Minister;

(b) if so, the details thereof;

(c) the proposals of the Ministry to implement the scheme in all the cities of the country since the project launched is primarily limited to only six cities in the country, the details thereof; and

(d) whether any action plan has been evolved and if so, which cities in Andhra Pradesh have been included in the list, the details thereof?

(a) & (b): Yes, Sir. As part of Global Housing Technology Challenge – India (GHTC-India), the foundation stones for six Light House Projects (LHPs) in Tripura, Jharkhand, Madhya Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, Gujarat and Tamil Nadu were laid by Hon’ble Prime Minister on January 01, 2021, the details in this regard are at Annexure.

(c) : Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs (MoHUA) is implementing LHPs in six cities with the aim to demonstrate innovative global technologies, materials and processes to deliver ready to live houses with better quality of construction in a sustainable manner. These will serve as Live Laboratories for facilitating replication of these technologies in the cities of the country.

(d) : In order to select six States across the country for construction of LHPs, MoHUA had instituted a challenge for States/Union Territories (UTs), wherein they were requested to submit their proposals based on pre-specified parameters. After evaluation of proposals received from States, six States as above have been selected for construction of LHPs. At present, there is no proposal to include the State of Andhra Pradesh for the LHPs.
