Of the sanctioned houses, construction of 32,15,926 houses (including 1,65,384 houses in Karnataka) has been completed. As reported by the implementing States/UTs,28,92,799 houses (including 1,43,804 in Karnataka) have been occupied so far by the identified beneficiaries.
(b) As per the scheme guidelines of PMAY (U), the beneficiary family comprises of husband, wife, unmarried sons and/or unmarried daughters. The beneficiary family should not own a pucca house either in his/her name or in the name of any member of his/her family in any part of India.
Further, such family with pucca house (an all-weather dwelling unit) having built-up area less than 21 square meter (sqm) may be included for enhancement of existing dwelling units upto 30 sqm. Moreover, an adult earning member (irrespective of marital status) can be treated as a separate household / beneficiary provided that he/she does not own a pucca house in his/her name in any part of India and that in the case of a married couple, either of the spouses or both together in joint ownership will be eligible for a single house, subject to income eligibility of the household family under the scheme. The income eligibility for different categories of beneficiaries are as under:
  • Economically Weaker Section (EWS )- upto Rs. 3.00 lakh
  • Low Income Group (LIG)-from Rs. 3.00 lakh to Rs. 6.00 lakh
