EKLAVYA MODEL RESIDENTIAL SCHOOL IN JHARKHAND

Will the Minister of TRIBAL AFFAIRS be pleased to state:
(a) whether in the General Budget, 2021 the Government had announced setting up 750 Eklavya Model Residential Schools(EMRS) in the tribal areas of the country;
(b) if so, the total number of EMRS along with the names of places and their location where these EMRS have been established in the State of Jharkhand, details thereof;
(c) the number of EMRS under construction in the country at present along with the year of sanctioning and place-wise, details thereof;
(d) the details of Eklavya Schools sanctioned and functional in Jharkhand, district-wise;
(e) the names of places where EMRS out of the above have not been made operational so far;
(f) the time by which EMRS at these places are likely to be completed along with probable date of commencement of education in these EMRS; and
(g) the reason behind delay in establishment of EMRS along with the details thereof?

(a): The Government has decided to establish 740 Eklavya Model Residential Schools (EMRSs) across the country in blocks with 50% or more tribal population and at least 20,000 tribal persons.
(b) to (e): A total number of 88 EMRSs have been sanctioned for the State of Jharkhand. The district wise details of these 88 EMRSs with functional or non-functional status are enclosed at Annexure I. At present, 236 EMRSs are under construction across the country. The sanction year and place wise details of these EMRSs are enclosed at Annexure II.
(f) and (g): The usual time required to complete the construction of each school is around 2 years after formal sanction is granted. The reason behind delay in establishment of some of the EMRSs is mainly due to delay in identification and allotment of suitable land free from all encumbrances by the respective State Government for the construction of EMRSs. Meanwhile, States have been advised to identify alternate buildings in the approved locations at the earliest for starting the schools in order to ensure that the delay in construction of EMRSs, if any, does not hinder the education of the tribal children.
