Will the Minister of TRIBAL AFFAIRS be pleased to state:

(a) whether the Government is implementing Pradhan Mantri Van Dhan Vikas Yojana for tribal dominated areas across the country;

(b) if so, the criteria for setting up of Van Dhan Vikas Kendras in tribal dominated areas of Palghar, Maharashtra and number of Van Dhan Vikas Kendras set up in Maharashtra;

(c) whether it is a fact that the Government has launched the Pradhan Mantri Van Dhan Vikas Yojana for the socio-economic development of the tribal population of the country; and

(d) if so, the number of Van Dhan Vikas Kendras set up by the Government to provide employment to Scheduled Tribes, State-wise along with the details of funds allocated and provided to the tribals since the inception of the programme?

(a) to (d) The Ministry of Tribal Affairs is implementing the Scheme of ‘Pradhan Mantri Janjatiya Vikas Mission’ (PMJVM) under which financial assistance is provided for setting up of Van Dhan Vikas Kendras (VDVKs) to support livelihood activities to the tribal population across the country including Maharashtra. VDVKs tap into traditional knowledge and skill sets of tribals by adding technology to upgrade it at each stage of collection, processing, value- addition, packaging, branding and sale of value-added tribal MFP and non-MFP produce / products thereby generating better remuneration for them. A VDVK consists of 15 SHGs where each SHG is having around 20 beneficiaries. Thus, a group of 300 beneficiaries constitute a VDVK.

TRIFED, an autonomous organization under the Ministry of Tribal Affairs implements the programme through State Implementing Agencies (SIAs). For this purpose, financial assistance of Rs. 15 lakhs per VDVK is provided to the SIAs based on the proposals received from the State Governments. Since the program is demand-driven, no State-wise allocation is made. The State-wise details of VDVKs sanctioned in the country, including Maharashtra, is given at Annexure.
