(b)  The completion of Railway projects requires acquisition of land, shifting of utilities, various statutory clearances etc. leading to time and cost overrun.
(c) & (d)  During the last three years i.e. 2015-16, 2016-17 & 2017-18, 38 New Lines covering a length of 3545.45 Km have been included in Rail Budget. Out of these, 27 projects are under requisite Government clearance. Further, 02 projects viz. Mau-Ghazipur-Tarighat (51 Km) and Bahraich-Shravasti-Bairampur(210 Km) falling fully/partly in the State of Uttar Pradesh have been sanctioned. 05 projects viz Sahjanwa-Dohrighat (70.45 Km), Padrauna-Kushinagar via Gorakhpur(64Km), Etah-Kasganj(29Km), Meerut-Panipat(104Km) and Robertsganj-Mughalsarai via Madhupur(70Km) and have been included in Rail Budgets subject to requisite Government clearances. The works will be taken up after obtaining requisite Government clearances.
(e)  To expedite completion of projects, various other steps taken/being taken by the Government for effective and speedy implementation of rail projects in the country are (i) substantial increase in allocation of funds, (ii) prioritisation of projects, (iii) delegation of powers at field level, (iv) nomination of nodal officers for improved co-ordination with the State Governments etc. This has resulted in substantial increase in pace of execution of projects in the last three years.
